Tragedy struck in Venda Nova do Imigrante, south-eastern Brazil, when a couple lost their lives after their car reportedly plunged 400 metres off a cliff during an intimate encounter.

According to investigators, the couple parked near the cliff to be intimate inside the vehicle.

Police suspect that their movements may have caused the car to shift and roll over the edge, despite the handbrake being engaged. The fatal incident occurred around 1am on Monday (4 August).

During the fall, the car struck a rock about 100 metres down, ejecting both occupants from the vehicle before it continued tumbling another 300 metres and coming to rest completely destroyed. The couple’s bodies were found naked, not far from the wreckage.

Local police officer Alberto Roque Peres, who is leading the investigation, confirmed there were no signs of violence or foul play. “There were no indications of aggression, and both victims had no criminal records,” he stated.

Marcone’s body was located at the base of the cliff, while firefighters navigated steep and dense terrain to retrieve Adriana’s remains.

Residents nearby reported hearing a loud noise between 1:30am and 2am, but due to darkness and thick vegetation, no one saw the incident.

Adriana, a well-known local, had worked for 16 years at her mother’s bakery and leaves behind a son and daughter from a previous relationship.

Marcone, originally from Belo Horizonte, had recently moved to the area and was working as a machine operator. Friends and family described their six-month relationship as loving and without conflict.
