ASAP Rocky’s 'Don’t Be Dumb': Everything We Know About the Long-Awaited Album
ASAP Rocky’s upcoming album “Don’t Be Dumb” has been over two years in the making. In that time, the rapper has juggled fatherhood with Rihanna, starred in feature films, and faced — and beat — felony assault charges that could have changed the course of his life. The road has been long, the delays many, but Rocky says the album is finally finished.
Since the release of his last album Testing in 2018, fans have waited anxiously for his next full-length project. The delays have caused frustration, but also raised expectations for what’s next from the Harlem rapper.
Confirmed Album Title and Features
In 2022, Rocky confirmed that the album would not be titled All Smiles as some believed, but rather Don’t Be Dumb. During a live performance, he previewed new music and honored fallen rappers with a tribute that displayed the album title prominently. Over time, he revealed collaborations with major producers including Metro Boomin, Hit-Boy, Tyler, the Creator, The Alchemist, and more.
Leaked Songs and Shifting Singles
Despite releasing tracks like “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n)” and “Highjack,” Rocky has blamed song leaks for disrupting the album’s rollout. “These dummies got to stop leaking shit,” he told Complex. Constant leaks forced him to delay and rework the album multiple times. Still, songs began surfacing through Rolling Loud performances and streaming exclusives like “Pray4DaGang.”
Delays, Redemption, and Reflection
Originally set for August 2024, the album faced further delays due to sample clearance issues. Pre-orders were refunded, and Rocky promised a 2025 release. In February 2025, he was found not guilty in his high-profile assault trial involving ASAP Relli. Weeks later, he said the album was finished and ready to drop.
In a shift from past bravado, Rocky shared that Don’t Be Dumb shows a more thoughtful side. “As I get older, I’m more conscious about how I view myself,” he told Variety. He hopes fans will find the album humble, honest, and relatable — a contrast to the typical swagger associated with his early work.
With years of hype and a narrative full of twists, ASAP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb could be the defining album of his career — if it finally arrives.
