Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter III’ Makes Billboard History with 300 Weeks on Chart
Hip-Hop Icon Achieves Career-First Milestone
Lil Wayne has officially reached a new career milestone as his iconic album Tha Carter III becomes his first-ever project to spend 300 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. This achievement highlights the enduring popularity of one of the rapper’s most influential releases.
According to Luminate, Tha Carter III sits at No. 145 on the current Billboard 200, earning 10,500 equivalent album units this week through a mix of streaming and sales. While the rapper has seen 24 albums chart over the years, none have maintained a presence on the ranking as long as this Grammy-winning body of work.
Three Albums from Tha Carter Series Chart Simultaneously
Lil Wayne’s influence remains strong in 2025 as three of his Tha Carter series albums are charting this week. Tha Carter VI, which debuted just a month ago, has fallen from No. 47 to No. 124 but continues to perform well, having already peaked at No. 2. Meanwhile, Tha Carter IV drops slightly to No. 185. Despite these dips, the presence of three albums from the same series on the Billboard 200 is a testament to Wayne’s lasting relevance in the rap scene.
Tha Carter III: A Landmark in Hip-Hop
Released in 2008, Tha Carter III was Lil Wayne’s sixth studio album and a defining moment in his career. The project became a cultural sensation, propelled by hits like “Lollipop” featuring Static Major, “A Milli,” and “Got Money” featuring T-Pain. The album earned the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and received a nomination for Album of the Year, solidifying Wayne’s status as a dominant force in hip-hop.
This 300-week milestone places Tha Carter III in a league of its own within Wayne’s catalog. His next longest-running project on the Billboard 200 is I Am Not a Human Being II, which charted for 84 weeks. Tha Carter V and Tha Carter IV follow with 81 and 73 weeks, respectively.
As Lil Wayne continues to evolve as an artist, the enduring success of Tha Carter III proves the timeless appeal of his music and its significant place in hip-hop history.
